Our AD capabilities span small to large-scale installations. Kompogas modules can typically treat 12k - 25k tonnes per annum and for higher capacities further modules can be added. Installations include source segregated feedstock as well as the organic fraction of MBT plant, e.g. > 150k tonnes per annum (total). The process uses a horizontal plug-flow reactor with low-speed agitation which is extraordinarily reliable.

An intermediate storage bunker delivers material to a unique blending unit, creating a homogeneous pumpable mass. This is pre-heated via heat exchangers and pumped to the fermenter. The continuous feed allows a high and very uniform gas yield. The fermenter has multi-zone heating and pasteurisation to meet all regulatory requirements. The digester residue is removed from the reactor to a screw press. It separates the substrate into press cake and presswater. Press-water is recycled to the process.

All monitors and controls are computerised with remote interrogation. The Kompogas process is typically integrated with a composting facility for further product polishing. Biogas utilisation can be via electricity generation or by upgrading to compressed natural gas (CNG) quality. Facilities are designed with complete environmental and aerial protection including odour control.

For small scale wet-wastes and farm wastes such as manures, we can offer a mobile plug-and-play solution. These container-sized modules come with complete AD and energy systems onboard. Alternatively, for intermediate sites we can also design and build a bespoke facility to suit client needs.
